Somatic Practice, Divination & Ancestral Healing
-
Mah e Azizam translates to “my dear moon” in Farsi. My healing lineages include a moon reverence lineage of my ancestors from both Iran and Hungary, and this honoring of the moon is what centers her work. With over two decades of experience in somatic practice, bodywork, arts & crafts, and ecological ritual, my work lives at the intersection of the personal and the ancestral — grounded in the understanding that when we strengthen our relationships with our own lineages, we gain the support to address and heal from the events that severed so many of our connections to the traditions and wisdom our ancestors carried.
Mah E Azizam is based in the ancestral wisdom passed down from my grandmothers and on the divination lineages of the Dagara people of Burkina Faso.

My goal is to support your wisdom in building a life that is deeply connected to what nourishes you and makes you feel alive. My approach to healing psychotherapy and healing work comes from deep education in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, somatic frameworks and practices.
In all of my studies in the creative and healing arts, I was taught that healing is never separate from relationship: with our creativity, our lineages, with the land, with water and cosmos, and with the living spirit of Earth herself. These relationships offer embodied support in daily life, and through them, we tend to systems of support and community.

We work with folks who are interested in exploring the wisdom in their own bodies, lineages, and communities. Whether you are moving through a life transition, feeling stuck, or simply wish to explore new ways of being with yourself and in relationship, you are in the right place!
Step into a space built for all of who you are. With over 20 years of practice in the field of somatics and bodywork and a decade practicing divination, I offer practice, divination, and ancestral connection sessions that are grounded in relational attunement and culturally affirming care. In this work, we recognize that healing doesn't happen in isolation, but in relationship: with yourself, with others, and with the natural world.
Rooted in somatic and trauma-informed practice, both divination and somatic practice support you in connecting with yourself in new ways, creating new stories from your experiences, and building the inner resources needed to move through life with greater agency and groundedness. Whether you're navigating the effects of personal or collective trauma or simply wanting to deepen your relationship with yourself, this space holds room for all of who you are. Together, we'll explore what presence, connection, and transformation can look and feel like for you.
About us
Welcome to Mah e Azizam Somatics! I’m Roya, a WA Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) #MC61673106 and CA Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) #159388.
With over two decades of experience in somatic practice, bodywork, arts & crafts, and ecological ritual, my work lives at the intersection of the personal and the ancestral, grounded in the understanding that when we strengthen our relationships with our own lineages, we gain the support to address and heal from the events that severed so many of our connections to the traditions and wisdom our ancestors carried.
Somatic practice and divination are not therapy, nor are they intended to diagnose, treat, or replace the care of a therapist or medical doctor. What they are are practices that allow you to attune more fully to your whole being and learn new ways of being in relationship in the world. Please continue to work with your health practitioners as advised; I am able to make referrals to therapists seeing clients in both CA and WA if needed.

Somatic practice is a body-centered approach to personal growth that works on the principle that the mind and body are inseparable. Rather than focusing solely on thoughts and mindset, we tune into physical sensations, movement, and nervous system patterns as pathways to self-awareness and lasting change. By helping you listen to what your body is communicating, somatic practice supports deep attunement and transformation.
This form of practice is self-paced, meaning you ultimately lead and I adapt our work to meet you where you are in the moment, creating a safe space for you to explore new ways of embodiment as you move towards achieving your goals.

Psychotherapy tends to be depth-focused, exploring the underlying patterns, histories, and root causes that may be keeping you stuck. Somatic coaching, by contrast, is present-oriented — anchored in what is happening in your body, mind, and emotions right now, in direct relationship to your goals.
In somatic practice, the work centers on the following areas: Body awareness, meaning tuning into sensation as a source of real-time information; Emotional integration, exploring how feelings and physical experience inform one another; and Goal-aligned reflection, continuously iterating on your path forward based on what you discover.
Rather than asking why you are where you are, somatic coaching asks what is possible from here while giving you practical, embodied tools to get there.

Stick divination is a sacred practice rooted in the Dagara tradition of Burkina Faso, West Africa, in which the diviner, the client, and the elemental spirit world collaborate to bring guidance and clarity. Working through sacred ritual tools and objects called "pieces" — each carrying a living energy such as Earth, Water, or ancestral presence — the spirits communicate through the diviner in words and visions, delivering messages tailored specifically to you. Sessions open with an invocation of gratitude and close with personalized rituals for healing and activation, lasting an hour or more and available both in person and remotely. No question is off limits — people bring concerns around love, health, work, creativity, family, and beyond, and the answers often bring surprising clarity and perspective.
Divination is not therapy and is not intended to replace seeing a medical or mental health professional.
We live in a time where new ways of using ancient knowledge and wisdom are needed. We are international, intercontinental, and culturally entwined in ways that our ancestors most often were not. It only makes sense for us to listen deeply to ancestral wisdom in order to craft new spiritual technologies that allow for us to be in relationship with the earth and the world as it is today. Together we can address the challenges that we face in a grounded, empathetic, deeply creative way. In the words of one of my favorite memes: “We can rebuild it; we have the technology.”
